Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of Cito API. By using our service, you agree to these terms. We've tried to keep this readable—if something is unclear, reach out and we'll explain.

Important: data sources and rights

Cito API is an independent data aggregator. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by any league, promotion, or rights holder, and we do not supply official or rights-cleared data feeds. A paid plan licenses you to use our Service commercially — it does not grant or warrant any third-party data, media, or trademark rights. You are responsible for confirming that your use is permitted for your use case and jurisdiction.

Acceptance of Terms

Agreement

By accessing or using Cito API, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Modifications

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or dashboard notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

API Usage

Rate Limits

Your API usage is subject to both a monthly request allowance and a per-minute rate limit, based on your subscription tier: Free (500/month, 10/minute), Starter (10,000/month, 30/minute), Pro (250,000/month, 100/minute), Scale (1,000,000/month, 400/minute), Enterprise (5,000,000+/month, custom). Legacy plans retain the allowances published when they were purchased. Exceeding an allowance or rate limit may result in throttling or a 429 response.

Live Data Delay & Historical Data Window

Live match data is served on a delay that depends on your subscription tier: Free (60 seconds), Starter (60 seconds), Pro and above (real time). In-depth historical records (fight, match, map and round statistics) are available for a period that depends on your subscription tier: Free (30 days), Starter (90 days), Pro and above (full archive). Summary records such as results, methods, opponents and schedules remain available for all periods on every tier, so you can always see which events we hold. A request for in-depth data outside your window returns a 403 response identifying the window. Legacy plans retain the historical access published when they were purchased.

Permitted Use

You may use the API to build applications, services, and integrations. You may display data obtained from our API in your applications with proper attribution.

What "Commercial Use" Means

Where a plan states that commercial use is permitted, that is a licence from us to use the Service — the API, its endpoints, and its responses — inside a commercial product. It is not a grant, assignment, warranty, or sub-licence of any intellectual property, broadcast, media, or data rights held by any third party, including leagues, promotions, federations, publishers, or rights holders. Your subscription does not make Cito API the licensor of the underlying sport or esports data. See "Data Sources & Third-Party Rights" below.

Prohibited Use

You may not: resell or redistribute API access, attempt to circumvent rate limits, use the API to build a competing service, or scrape data beyond normal API usage patterns.

Account Responsibilities

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and API keys. Do not share API keys publicly or commit them to version control. Rotate keys immediately if compromised.

Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as needed.

Account Activity

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether authorized or not. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

Payment Terms

Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Prices are in USD unless otherwise specified. You authorize us to charge your payment method for recurring fees.

Renewals

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard or by contacting support.

Refunds

We offer a 14-day refund for new subscriptions if you're not satisfied. After 14 days, refunds are provided at our discretion. Contact support@citoapi.com for refund requests.

Intellectual Property

Our IP

The Service, including its code, design, and documentation, is owned by Cito API and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Service.

Your IP

You retain ownership of applications and services you build using our API. We claim no ownership over your code or the products you create.

Data Ownership

Sports and esports data provided through the API is factual information compiled from publicly accessible sources. Factual match information — results, scores, schedules, statistics, and competitor records — is generally not subject to copyright as such. You may not claim exclusive ownership of this data, and neither do we.

Data Sources & Third-Party Rights

No Affiliation

Cito API is an independent data aggregator. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, approved by, or licensed by any league, promotion, tour, sanctioning body, federation, tournament organiser, club, athlete, team, publisher, or data provider whose competitions our data describes (each a "Rights Holder") — including, without limitation, the UFC, Zuffa, TKO Group, Endeavor, Riot Games, Valve, Activision, Epic Games, the ATP, WTA, ITF, or the organisers of any Grand Slam or other tennis tournament. References to any tour, event, or competition are used solely as factual descriptors of the subject matter of the data and do not imply any association. All names, marks, and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used, where used at all, for identification only.

No Claim of Official Status

You may not represent to any third party that the Service is official, endorsed, sponsored, approved, or licensed by any Rights Holder, and you may not use any Rights Holder's name or mark in a manner that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.

Factual Data Only

The Service aggregates and publishes factual information — scores, results, rankings, dates, participants, and statistical measurements. We do not redistribute Rights Holder logos, photographs, broadcasts, editorial text, or other creative content. Where images are made available (for example, player portraits), they are supplied under their own licence, and you must display the accompanying licence and attribution string and link the source URL wherever the image appears.

How Data Is Compiled

Our data is compiled from publicly accessible sources and public feeds. We do not provide official, licensed, or rights-holder-certified data feeds. Where an official licensed feed exists for a competition, that is a separate product from a separate provider, and our Service is not a substitute for it.

No Warranty of Underlying Rights

We make no representation or warranty that the Service, or any data within it, does not infringe or misappropriate the intellectual property or other rights of any third party, and we expressly disclaim any such warranty, including any warranty of non-infringement in respect of third-party data, marks, imagery, or media. We likewise make no representation that your intended use of the data is permitted under any third party's terms, licences, or rights.

No Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we provide no indemnity, defence, or hold harmless in respect of any claim, demand, action, or proceeding brought by any third party — including any Rights Holder or data provider — relating to the data, its sourcing, or your use of it. You accept that the data is aggregated from third-party sources and is provided without any assurance as to its provenance. Any decision to build a product, service, or betting market on the data, and any decision to rely on it, is made at your own risk.

Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of the data is lawful and permitted in your jurisdiction and for your use case, and for obtaining any additional authorisation, licence, or clearance your use may require. If your use case is regulated or rights-sensitive — including betting, wagering, official odds settlement, broadcast, public venue display, or resale of data feeds — you should obtain officially licensed data and take your own legal advice. Cito API is built for developers, hobbyists, and live-view and analytics products, and is not sold as a betting-grade or rights-cleared feed.

Trademarks & Media

Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use a third party's trademarks, logos, branding, photography, video, or broadcast content. Any such use is a matter between you and the relevant rights holder.

Data & Privacy

Data Collection

We collect usage data to improve the Service and for billing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how we use it.

Data Accuracy

We strive for accuracy but do not guarantee that all data is complete, current, or error-free. Esports data can change rapidly and historical data may have gaps.

Your Obligations

If you collect personal data through your use of our API, you are responsible for complying with applicable data protection laws including GDPR and CCPA.

Disclaimers

As-Is Service

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Third-Party Data

Our data is compiled from third-party and publicly accessible sources. We are not responsible for delays, inaccuracies, gaps, or outages in source data, or for changes to those sources that affect coverage.

No Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Liability Cap

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Regulated Use, Betting & Gaming

Compliance Is Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for compliance with all laws, regulations, rules, and licensing requirements applicable to your use of the Service, including without limitation any sports-wagering, gaming, gambling, advertising, consumer-protection, data protection, or official-league-data requirements in any jurisdiction in which you operate or from which you are accessible.

Your Representations

You represent and warrant that: (a) you hold, and will maintain, every licence, permit, approval, or authorisation required for your use of the Service, including any supplier, vendor, or data-provider licence required for wagering-related use in any jurisdiction in which you provide wagering products or services; (b) you will not use the Service in any jurisdiction where such use is prohibited or unlicensed; and (c) you will not use the Service to facilitate wagering by any unlicensed operator.

Restricted Use

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access, in whole or in part and by jurisdiction, where we consider that continued provision may give rise to legal or regulatory exposure for us. We are not obliged to give reasons.

Licence Scope & No Redistribution

Licensed, Not Sold

The Service is licensed, not sold, and is provided for your internal use and for display within your own products as permitted by your plan.

No Redistribution

You may not resell, sublicense, redistribute, or make the data available to any third party as a data feed or API, or use it to build, train, or improve a competing data service, without a separate written reseller agreement. Automated access is subject to the rate limits of your plan.

Coverage, Change & Withdrawal

Coverage Is Not Guaranteed

Data coverage is not guaranteed. Individual competitions, tours, data categories, or fields may be added, altered, suspended, or withdrawn at any time without notice, including where a source becomes unavailable or a claim is asserted in respect of it.

No Per-Competition Service Level

No service level applies to any specific competition, source, or data category unless expressly agreed in writing.

Legal Notices

Where to Send Legal Notices

All legal notices — including without limitation cease-and-desist letters, demands, takedown requests, subpoenas, and claims of infringement — must be sent to legal@citoapi.com. Electronic notice to that address is sufficient and is the channel we monitor for this purpose. Where service by another method is required by law, notice should additionally be given in accordance with the applicable rules of the State of Illinois.

Not Subject to Support Tiering

This channel is monitored independently of our product support function and is available to any person or entity, whether or not they hold an account and irrespective of subscription tier. Product support is limited by plan; legal notice intake is not.

What a Notice Should Contain

To enable prompt assessment, a notice should identify: (a) the specific URL(s) or endpoint(s) concerned; (b) the data category or content at issue; (c) the right said to be infringed and the basis for it; (d) the requesting party and its authority; and (e) the action requested. We aim to acknowledge notices within three business days.

Support Scope

Support by Plan

Product support is provided according to your subscription plan. Free and entry-tier plans are eligible only for billing and account support. Technical, data-quality, and integration support is available on paid plans as described on our pricing page.

Carve-Out

This section does not limit the Legal Notices section above. Legal notices, abuse reports, security disclosures, and privacy requests are accepted from anyone regardless of plan or account status.

Termination

By You

You may cancel your subscription and close your account at any time. Upon cancellation, your access will continue until the end of your billing period.

Termination for Legal Risk

We may suspend or terminate the Service, in whole or in part, immediately and without liability, if we reasonably consider that continued provision would or might infringe the rights of a third party, breach applicable law, or expose us to legal or regulatory action. Where reasonably practicable we will give notice and a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the terminated period.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or any reason with notice. We may terminate immediately for serious violations.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your account data after 30 days. Some provisions survive termination.

Governing Law & Disputes

Governing Law

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Jurisdiction

The state and federal courts located in the State of Illinois have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Survival & Severability

Provisions which by their nature should survive termination — including those concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, legal notices, and governing law — survive. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions remain in full force.

Questions About These Terms?

We're happy to clarify anything. Legal documents can be confusing—just ask.

Legal notices — including cease-and-desist letters, demands, takedown requests, subpoenas, and claims of infringement — should go to legal@citoapi.com. That channel is monitored separately from product support and is open to anyone, with or without an account, on any plan.
